Price

Hourly Rate
The hourly rate on all projects is $50 plus expenses.

Expenses
Expenses are included in the total cost of each project and are never added into the project cost as additional charges. The amount of expenses plus billable time never exceeds the project's total authorized budget. Expenses reduce the amount of the budget that is available for research time, so we always work hard to keep expenses at a minimum.

Expenses include such items as microfilm rentals, record copies, postage, public transportation, parking, and personal vehicle mileage ($.50 per mile). Also, if on-site research is needed at a distant repository, expenses might include overnight accommodations and travel costs.

Time and Expense Reports
At the conclusion of each project, reports are provided that account for every minute of billable time and every expense.

Project Description
A written project description is provided to each client prior to the start of each project. This project description not only describes the specific work to be done, but it also lists the maximum amount of time plus expenses that the client authorizes for the work. The client is never billed for any amount over what they have authorized in writing.

Initial Consultation
The nature of family history research makes it impossible to know ahead of time exactly how much research and what size project is needed to accomplish the goals of each client, so we always conduct an initial consultation with each client prior to the start of every project. This enables us to make a recommendation as to what size project might be the best starting point for the client.

Additional Research
At the completion of each project, the client can review the compiled family history material and purchase additional research if desired. The project can continue in this manner until the client’s family history is compiled to their satisfaction.

Deposit
A 50% deposit is required for each project.
